| Described as ‘A little Gem on the edge of Cockermouth’, Philomena’s Arthouse, established in 2002, is more than an art gallery as it has displays of all types of local artistic talent. Artists, predominantly from Cumbria, include Jane Smith, Heather Davies, Frances Winder, Libby and Nigel Edmonson and Philomena. The range of exhibits on show are oil paintings, water colours, acrylics, pen and ink, prints from exhibitors originals, greetings cards, photography too varied to describe, bevel edge and ornamental mirrors, pottery, ceramics, wood sculpture and turning, bronze garden sculpture, jewellery, silk handbags and gifts - and are all for sale. To the rear of the gallery is a picture framing service, which has a huge range of frames and offers a prompt service at a very reasonable cost. All major credit cards accepted.
